Open Rank - Research Professor in Civil Engineering (2 Positions)
The University of Texas at El Paso seeks two highly qualified research professors (open-rank) to join the Department of Civil Engineering and help us integrate a new water research initiative. The research professors are expected to form research collaborations with faculty across different departments and external collaborators such as industry, consulting firms, utility companies, national laboratories, and universities. The candidates are expected to sustain extramural funding and supervise a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students and post-docs. With other faculty members, the new hires will play an essential role in training the next generation of water scientists and developing the workforce in the Paso del Norte region. The candidates will work with Civil Engineering faculty members to maintain and expand the Department's research capabilities for water quality analysis and create a recharge center to enable analyses through internal or external requests.
Job Requirements:
Candidates must demonstrate evidence of research productivity including peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and successful research collaborations. Research areas of interest include membrane processes for water treatment and environmental chemistry. Individuals with experience in other research areas related to water science and engineering are also encouraged to apply. For both roles, candidates are expected to have experience with analytical instruments for water quality analysis. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record of obtaining extramural funding.
Candidates must have a doctorate in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
