Mechanical Engineering Technology Faculty/Program Coordinator

The BASMET program is committed to project-based learning and faculty will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues to continuously refresh courses and processes while working towards ABET accreditation. The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology program is offered at North Central State College's Kehoe Center in Shelby, Ohio. Courses are delivered both day and evening. The faculty member will deliver classes in solid mechanics, thermal/fluid science, and engineering projects. The position will commence Fall semester 2025 (8/7/25).

Essential Duties (not all inclusive):
  • Maintain minimum of 15 credit/18 contact hours of classroom, and/or laboratory instruction per term and reflects a 40-hour workweek.
  • Advocate and adopt appropriate project-based learning activities in consultation with academic colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and support students and graduates in seeking internship and job opportunities.
  • Ensure that internship, cooperative and/or fieldwork experiences are implemented and evaluated for effectiveness according to the program's accreditation standards.
  • Ensure program compliance with internship, co-op and/or fieldwork requirements as outlined within program accreditation standards.
  • Support fund raising efforts of the College and Division, typically through participation with grant development efforts.
  • As Program Coordinator/Director, work with faculty and administration to maintain program and faculty assessment standards in accordance with ABET accreditation.
  • The Program Coordinator is responsible for accreditation reporting, correspondence, and compliance requirements as outlined within ABET accreditation standards.
  • Meet with all classes as scheduled and provide full component of instruction.
  • Provide appropriate assistance and supervision to students in all classrooms, clinicals and/or laboratories.
  • Deliver instruction based on the learning objectives and course outcomes found in the official College syllabus.
  • Hold at least five (5) office hours per week for student consultation and advisement.
  • Report attendance information, midterm deficiencies, and final term grade to the Student Records Office in the manner and by the dates specified.
  • Maintains current knowledge and skills in the faculty member's discipline and in teaching strategies.
  • Maintains proper housekeeping and safety rules in classrooms, clinicals and/or laboratories.
  • Performs community service including serving on and working with community organizations, area agencies, and /or advisory committees.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate course materials.
  • Attend departmental, divisional, and professional development meetings and other College activities as required.
  • Attend graduation ceremonies and assists as requested.
  • Maintain an inventory of appropriate supplies and equipment.
  • Serve on College committees.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, peers, and staff to promote competence, education, and training related to program.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology with minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing work experience; graduate degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering
    technology; graduate degree in an engineering related field with an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology and a minimum of one-year of manufacturing work experience.
  • Prior college level teaching experience preferred.
  • Extensive manufacturing experience preferred.
