Apprentice Engineer

Job Summary:
Each apprentice shall be responsible for maintaining a record of the time spent by him/her of each work process and in related and supplemental instruction pursuant to the rules of the Joint Apprenticeship and Advisory Committee. Apprentices shall satisfactorily perform the learning and work tasks and duties assigned to them both on the job and in related instruction and shall comply with the rules, regulations and decisions of the Joint Apprenticeship and Advisory Committee.

Full Job Description:

The apprentice will be rotated through the work processes that will enable him/her to gain knowledge and experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of Plant equipment.

Work Processes:

1. Boilers

a. Combustion problems

b. care and maintenance

c. water treatment

2. Air Compressors

a. care and maintenance

b. valve replacement

c. packing

3. Pumps

a. valve replacement

b. packing

c. mechanical seal replacement

4. Electrical Motors

a. oiling and greasing

b. computator care

c. brush bearing replacement

d. minor repairs

5. Engines

a. steam and diesel

b. maintenance

6. Heating and Ventilation Equipment

a. maintenance and minor repairs

b. fan care, motor maintenance and steam traps

7. Electrical and Electronic Equipment

a. maintenance, adjustment and trouble-shooting

8. Refrigeration

a. air conditioning

b. automatic controls

9. General Maintenance

a. pipe fitting and plumbing

b. welding

10. Plant Management

a. costs, reports, records, filing system

Requirements:
Ability to safely lift 50 lbs; clean driving record and valid license. Available for any shift. Experience and ability to perform variety of mechanical tasks preferred. Must possess the necessary physical and mental requirements to safely and efficiently perform the duties of the job.

$42.93/hour
